Making a Background

Using the Paint program, get some color on the screen.  I suggest using the Spray Can to spray different colors in a section.  Then, use the Select tool to draw a dotted box around the area that you like.  Then, while holding the Shift key down, click inside the dotted rectangle and drag around the screen.  This can be copied and pasted to be used as background in other programs. When you are satisfied with your design, click File-->Save As   and name your picture background. Change the file type to JPEG, and find your folder on the Share Drive in the Elementary Computers folder.

Then go to Microsoft Word and click on the Format menu. Choose Background and then Fill Effects. Click on the Picture tab and click on Select Picture. Find the location where you saved your Paint background and double-click on it. Click OK and your Paint background should be inserted as the background of your page. Save your Word document to use at a later time. Name it background.
